On March 18 and 19 VentureLab Twente presents an Open Training to offer all potential participants a taste of what participating in the VentureLab programme would be like.
On March 18, in the evening, you are invited to the monthly network dinner and VentureClass. Both events are free of charge. You can apply here (Open Training) and here (VentureClass, with more info).
One of the highlights in the Open Training is a training on ‘Understanding Business Strategy’ by Michael Hitt. Michael A. Hitt is a Distinguished Professor and holds the Joe B. Foster Chair in Business Leadership at Texas A&M University. He has more than 260 publications including 26 co-authored or co-edited books. He has been recognized as one of the ten most cited scholars in management over a 25-year period in an article published in the 2008 volume of the Journal of Management. Read the rest of this entry →

On March 5, the entrepreneurs in Blue4Green will share with the participants in VentureLab how they traveled their route to success. A lot of entrepreneurs start searching for a business opportunity or promising market as a foundation for their business. However, this was not how Daan Sistermans and Erik Staijen started Blue4Green. In their lecture they will speak about the “personal center” as starting point for entrepreneurship: What do I want to do with my life? Which role suits me best? What gives me the most energy? On the surface these questions look simple, but the answers had big entrepreneurial implications to them and the way they manage the growth of Blue4Green.

This weekend we’ll implement some improvements on the VentureLab Twente site. In particular we are going to provide the possibility to create and maintain user-accounts. These accounts are especially meant for the VLT-participants (entrepreneurs), to make their own subpage on the website and show themselves to a broad audience! And a lot of other possibilities will come with these accounts… stay tuned!

The third Group of entrepreneurs started their VentureLab Twente programme. In three groups nearly 60 entrepreneurs joined in! A good impression of the kick-off is given below.

Martijn was in 2001 de eerste student die toegelaten werd tot de TOP regeling van de Universiteit Twente met zijn bedrijf MAG Productions. Nu 8 jaar later is MAG Productions failliet. Met o.a. vakantiehuisje.nl bouwde Martijn zijn bedrijf uit naar 15 medewerkers met de ambitie om te groeien naar 30. Op dat moment ging het mis. Met een ervaring rijker en een illusie armer vertelt Martijn tijdens deze Route Suc6 bijeenkomst over dit verlies en de problemen waar hij tegenaan is gelopen.
De lezing zal gegeven worden op dinsdag 9 februari 2010 om 19.00 uur in The Corridor (Hengelosestraat 525). De Route Suc6 bijeenkomsten worden georganiseerd door Kennispark Twente in samenwerking met de Kamer van Koophandel Oost Nederland en SKIO (Saxion Kenniscentrum voor Innovatie en Ondernemerschap). De bijeenkomsten richten zich in het bijzonder op jonge ondernemers waarbij een gevestigde ondernemer zijn succesverhaal komt vertellen. Zie de Route Suc6 website voor aanmelding en meer informatie.

Again a new podcast, this time about Business Development: how to renew yourself from within a company. The podcast is in Dutch and so is this news.
Op 12 november vond een thema bijeenkomst plaats van de Vereniging Business Development Nederland (VBDN) over ‘incubating’ (to grow under conditions that promote development). Aard Groen heeft hier gesproken over incubating volgens de VentureLab formule, en over high-tech marketing en Business Development. Hij maakt duidelijk dat VentureLab Twente er niet alleen voor (startende) zelfstandig ondernemers is; ook binnen bestaande bedrijven zijn er mooie innovatieve ideeën waarvoor begeleiding gewenst kan zijn. Podcast: Najaarscongres RWI maakt discussie over ZZPers los ↴ click to expand
A new podcast about a different way of working: ZZP. It’s in Dutch so the rest of the news is also in Dutch.
Ze zijn de laatste tijd steeds meer in het nieuws: de Zelfstandigen Zonder Personeel (ZZP). Deze vorm van werken is namelijk vrij nieuw en in tijden van crisis kan dit voor velen een uitkomst bieden. Volgens Aard Groen zijn het niet echte ondernemers, omdat ze bijvoorbeeld er niet op uit zijn om te groeien. Maar het zijn ook geen werknemers, want ze richten wel voor eigen risico en rekening een onderneming op.
Omdat de ZZPers er dus eigenlijk tussenin vallen is niet duidelijk hoe de zaken geregeld moeten worden: wie onderhandeld over het loon en de werktijden? Wie regelt de verzekeringen? (bijvoorbeeld bij arbeidsongeschiktheid). Een belangrijke vraag die hierop volgt: is dit alleen ‘een nieuwe manier van werken’ of juist ‘dé nieuwe manier van werken’? Over €2 million for VentureLab Twente ↴ click to expand
A subsidy of €2.4 million has been awarded to VentureLab Twente by the Ministry of Economic Affairs and the provinces of Overijssel and Gelderland within the EU-funded ‘GO Gebundelde Innovatiekracht’ programme.
The Twente region and Innovation Platform Twente are also expected to contribute to VentureLab Twente to bring subsidies to €3.5 million.
The subsidies mean that costs for participants can be kept as low as possible!
