Meet VentureLab Twente at the ‘Bedrijvendagen 2009′

September 27, 2009 in All, Events, News by Tim van Eck

VentureLab Twente will be at the University of Twente Bedrijvendagen on September 30!

VentureLab will have a booth with Kennispark Twente at the information fair:
“The companies will set up their information booths at the information fair, which will be held in a large venue on the Ganzenveld. Recruiters can provide information on their companies and students will have the opportunity to meet companies and ask questions. The fair opens at 10:30 and closes at 17:00.The information fair also provides the opportunity for students to talk to the recruiters of companies in which they are interested. Because so many companies present themselves in one venue, the information fair is the place to be for students who want to learn more about the labour market or who are looking for internship opportunities, thesis projects or a job.” (www.bedrijvendagentwente.nl). Upcoming VentureClass! Presenter: Paula Englis

September 25, 2009 in All, Events, News by Webmaster

On Thursday October 8, Dr. Englis will give a presentation about entrepreneurial firms in the context of international strategies.

Location: “The Corridor” , Hengelosestraat 525-527, Enschede

Knowledge intensive firms face many challenges and opportunities in doing business; among these are numerous issues that arise when doing business across national borders. While traditional theories of international expansion tend to focus on incremental internationalization, her discussion centers on rapid and more innovative ways for knowledge intensive firms to expand beyond national boundaries. Using a series of case studies, her presentation will focus on opportunities and competition present in the developed world as well as the rapidly expanding opportunities in less developed and especially from “the bottom of the pyramid.”

The VentureClass is free and open to everyone. Go to the VentureClass application form to register your presence.

VentureCLass “do’s and don’ts of high tech venturing”

September 4, 2009 in All, Events, News by Webmaster

“Accept that you win and lose” came first on the list of ten tips from Roel Pieper, followed by human factors like leadership, commitment and people quality or business factors like scalablity, multi-sourcing and the value stack. Pieper was the fifth VLT VentureClass speaker. The VLT VentureClasses are monthly, public evening sessions by internationally renowned speakers, on entrepreneurship-related themes. Pieper’s audience, well over 60 people, hung on his lips. Pieper also stressed the importance of networks, especially now when finance from banks for starting entrepreneurs is hard to come by. A lively discussion, that continued at the bar, ended the evening.
